The Standing Nandi is a sophisticated visual anchor handcrafted using the non-industrial Cire Perdue (lost-wax casting) method. This ancient tribal technique ensures that your sculpture is a true singular relic, born from a clay mould that must be completely broken apart to release the cooled brass alloy beneath.
This piece is distinguished by its incredible textural contrast and deep, dual-toned finish. The Nandi's body features a rich, dark antiqued patina that lends an ancient, weathered weight to its form. This deep backdrop makes the hand-coiled brass ornamentation, including traditional neck bells, detailed anklets, and prominent curved horns, gleam with a warm, golden lustre. Adding a striking contemporary narrative is the ornate ceremonial saddle, meticulously detailed with vibrant emerald green and rust-red pigment inlays across the back.
The Styling Ritual: With its proud 8 x 3 x 9-inch proportions, this sculpture carries exceptional architectural weight. It acts as a stunning statement piece when styled as a singular anchor on an entry console, layered alongside minimalist ceramic vessels, or positioned on an open bookshelf against a warm, earthy backdrop to catch the natural daylight.
Every artefact in our Dhokra Art Series is individually cast by hand, celebrating artisanal integrity over mass production. Please allow 45 to 60 days for your pair to be masterfully cast, finished, and shipped to your space.
