The Small Elephant is an intimate visual anchor handcrafted using the non-industrial Cire Perdue (lost-wax casting) method, a 4,000-year-old metalworking tradition.
Despite its compact proportions, this piece showcases a delightful density of hand-carved character. The elephant's body is wrapped in a smooth, rhythmic sequence of hand-coiled brass threads that mimic heavy, majestic folds. Perched gracefully at the tip of its raised trunk is a tiny, intricately cast bloom, bringing a rare touch of lightness and narrative poetry to the solid metal form. Because each individual sculpture is born from a single clay mould that must be shattered to release the cooled brass alloy, your elephant is entirely one-of-a-kind.
The Styling Ritual: With its petite 4.5 x 3 x 3.5-inch dimensions, this sculpture carries an exceptional tactile weight for its scale. It serves as a sophisticated layering piece when styled atop a stack of design journals, placed on a vanity alongside a marble tray, or nestled into an open floating shelf vignette to catch soft, natural daylight.
Every artefact in our Dhokra Art Series is individually cast by hand, celebrating artisanal integrity over mass production. Please allow 45 to 60 days for your pair to be masterfully cast, finished, and shipped to your space.
