The Sacred Tortoise Tealight Holder honours the ancient Kurma, the tortoise archetype of stability, patience, and cosmic balance. Hand-cast using the iconic 4,000-year-old Cire Perdue (lost-wax casting) method, this solid brass alloy piece serves as both an evocative tribal sculpture and an intimate platform for firelight.
The shell of the tortoise is intricately adorned with hand-coiled wire detailing, featuring stylised tribal figures standing in a respectful prayer or Namaste mudra, interspersed with concentric solar spirals. The crown of the shell culminates in a perfectly flattened, spiralled basin tailored to hold a standard tealight or small votive candle. When lit, the flame illuminates the rich, unlacquered metallic textures, casting beautiful, historic shadows across your surfaces.
The Styling Ritual: With its compact yet visually dense 6.5 x 4 x 2.5-inch dimensions, this piece is an exceptional choice for intimate styling vignettes. It pairs naturally with raw, earthy textures like terracotta, stone, or dark timbers. Display it as a grounding element on a bedside sanctuary table, a stacked-book centrepiece on a coffee table, or nested within an architectural display shelf.
Every artefact in our Dhokra Art Series is individually cast by hand, celebrating artisanal integrity over mass production. Please allow 45 to 60 days for your pair to be masterfully cast, finished, and shipped to your space.
