In the same workshops where hand-knotted rugs take months to emerge, hand-tufted rugs offer a different kind of discipline, one built around speed of expression rather than density of construction. A pattern is traced onto a backing stretched across a frame, and the artisan works through it using a handheld tufting tool, pushing yarn through the fabric to form loops or cut piles that give the rug its characteristic softness.

Once the tufting is complete, a canvas backing is bonded to the underside, securing the yarn and giving the rug a clean, finished profile. The result takes around two months and carries a warmth underfoot that makes it particularly well-suited to rooms built for stillness.
